2 0 Years of Application Research Help Polyamide Users "Build" Better Products For two decades, General Mills has cooperated closely with resin formulators in trans lating Versamid polyamide resins' unique properties into new or improved products. In General Mills there exists a rich source of counsel for developing product innovations in a wide variety of industries. We recently assisted an aircraft manufacturer in obtaining faster cure and improved solvent resistance for a jet plane coating. We helped formulate an adhesive to bond foam insulation to siding panels; worked with a shoe machinery producer to develop a hotmelt adhesive to speed shoe production; "assisted a missile supplier in making a unique coating for a silo-fired rocket. Our research made possible maintenance coatings that can be applied over rusty, moist metals; helped develop a plastic solder to seal metal con tainer seams (allowing complete wrap-around printed labeling for the first time.) The chemist in our applications research lab, pictured below, is measuring the proper ties contributed by Versamids to a bonding agent for metal foils.
