BCCE provides opportunities for interacting with chemistry instructors of all levels in formal and informal settings. sites can be found on the conference website under the Presenting tab.1 We have a wide variety of symposia that are looking for abstract submissions. If there is not a topic listed that fits your presentation, then submit your abstract to the general papers session, and we will find a session for you. Please read through the instructions for submitting an abstract prior to logging into the ACS MAPS abstract submission system: papers may be rejected if the abstracts do not follow the guidelines and if your total number of allowed presentations and presiding and organizing sessions exceeds 9.0. Authors will be notified of the status of their abstract in April 2020 and will be informed of their presentation times and locations in May 2020. regon State University is looking forward to hosting the 26th Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE),1 sponsored by the ACS Division of Chemical Education, in July 2020. This biennial conference fosters collaboration and conversations among educators from all levels, including elementary and middle school science teachers, high school chemistry teachers, and two-year and four-year chemistry instructors. With an anticipated registration of 1500 delegates, this conference has become the largest gathering of chemical educators in the world and a thriving part of the chemical education community for 52 years. The program will consist of more than 600 oral presentations, 120 posters, and 100 workshops and will feature symposia covering such topics as green chemistry, environmental chemistry, the role of undergraduate research in the preparation of chemistry students, innovations in chemical education, articulation between community colleges and four-year institutions, insights into the advanced placement chemistry curriculum, and innovations in teaching high school chemistry. General Chair Richard Nafshun (Oregon State University) and Program Chair Thomas J. Greenbowe (University of Oregon) invite you to join us on the beautiful campus of Oregon State University2 from Saturday July 18 to Thursday July 23, 2020 and let us show you why “Chemistry Is Paramount”. You can expect a dynamic conference offering a number of rich symposia, time to network with colleagues, and ample time to explore the coast of the Pacific Ocean, the waterfalls and trails of Cascade Mountain Range, and the wineries of the Willamette River Valley. Our conference will work to emphasize the improvements of chemistry education at all levels and modern developments in chemistry and chemical education. BCCE is highly respected in the chemical education community.

SYMPOSIA, WORKSHOPS, PAPERS, AND POSTERS Symposia and workshop proposals will be accepted through August 23, 2019. Criteria for submission are available on the conference website.1 Abstracts for presentations and posters will be accepted through February 24, 2020. CONFERENCE REGISTRATION, HOUSING, AND MEALS Early registration will begin on February 16, 2020, through the 26th BCCE website.1 Estimated registration fees are $350 for general registrants, $175 for secondary educators, and $175 for graduate students. After 11:59 pm PDT on June 1, 2018, a late registration fee will be added to all categories. Registration for on-campus housing begins January 6, 2020 with prices around $75 per night for double-occupancy rooms. We have made arrangements with local hotels for blocks of rooms at special conference pricing. Check the BCCE website for the latest details on off-campus housing arrangements.1 Breakfast will be included with on-campus housing and with the approved BCCE off-campus-housing hotels. Lunch will be provided as part of the registration fee. Evening meals are on your own, although each registrant will receive one $20 coupon toward one evening meal at one of the approved BCCE restaurants in Corvallis. The Sunday and Wednesday evening socials and receptions will feature satisfying hors d’oeuvres, one complementary adult beverage, and more. The website also has a link connecting you to information about childcare offered by a selection of local childcare providers, many of whom offer discounted rates for conference participants.
EXHIBITS In addition to the daily noncompeting plenary presentations, a large exhibition of vendors will offer tremendous opportunities for chemistry educators. More than 70 booths will host publishers, instrument manufacturers, educational software developers, and scientific supply companies. Our exhibition will occur in the hallways of the LaSells Stewart Conference Center and in the adjacent Alumni Hall, where most of the major presentations and poster sessions will be held. The exhibits will be open Sunday evening through Wednesday afternoon. Refreshments will also be located in the exhibition area.

TRAVEL INFORMATION Corvallis3 is 85 miles south of Portland just off Interstate 5. Portland International Airport (PDX) is served by all major airlines. The Hut Shuttle connects PDX with the OSU campus. On a sunny day avoiding rush hour traffic, one can drive from Corvallis to PDX in 1 h and 20 min. In rush-hour traffic in the rain through Portland, add another hour. The closest airport is the Eugene Regional Airport (EUG) located south of Corvallis and is a 40 min drive from Eugene to the OSU campus. The Omni Shuttle connects the Eugene airport to the OSU campus. Amtrak and bus service are available. See the 26th BCCE website1 for additional information. SOCIAL EVENTS We will have several traditional and nontraditional extracurricular activities allowing attendees to meet and greet each other. Included in our plans are these: • The Sunday evening reception following the keynote address • The Monday early morning 5 K fun-run/walk • The Monday late afternoon ACS SciMix-styled Poster Session and the traditional ice cream social sponsored by the Journal of Chemical Education and 2YC3 • The Tuesday late afternoon traditional Oregon wine and hoppy beer social featuring an Oregon jazz band and ACS SciMix-styled Poster Session • The Tuesday late evening Key Tones and Friends Unplugged acoustic jam session • The Wednesday afternoon golf outing • The Wednesday evening outdoor social, picnic, and dance featuring Al D. Hyde and the Key Tones, a classic rock-n-roll band comprised of chemistry educators • Exploration of downtown Corvallis, eateries, pubs, and River Walk each evening • Bicycle rentals to explore the OSU campus, Corvallis, and Philomath on dedicated bikeways • Tours to view and taste the results of grape, grain, and hop fermentation from award-winning Willamette Valley wineries and breweries • Tours to view and experience the iconic Oregon Pacific Coast, Crater Lake National Park, and the Cascade Mountain Range, encountering dense forests, waterfalls, volcanoes, and lava fields
