TESTS Clarity of Solution Dissolve 0.30 g in 10 mL of water by adding hydrochloric acid dropwise until solution is complete. The solution should be clear with not more than a faint yellow color. Save the solution for the sensitivity to copper test.

Sensitivity to Copper Dilute the sample reserved from the clarity of solution test to 100 mL with water. In a 25 mL flask, add a standard containing 0.005 mg of copper, 1 mL of hydroxylamine hydrochloride reagent solution, and 2 mL of 10% sodium acetate reagent solution. Add 0.1 mL of the prepared sample solution. A yellow-orange color should develop with an absorption maximum at 454 nm.

Loss on Drying Accurately weigh 1.0 g in a preconditioned weighing bottle, and dry at 100 °C for 1 h. Cool, and weigh.
