TESTS Melting Point [Part 2: Measurement of Physical Properties; Melting Point].

Solubility in Alcohol Dissolve 1.0 g in 25 mL of alcohol. The solution should be clear.

Color (APHA) of Alcohol Solution [Part 2: Measurement of Physical Properties; Color (APHA); Procedure for Color (APHA)]. Dissolve 4.0 g in alcohol, and dilute with alcohol to 100 mL.

Solubility in Hydrochloric Acid Dissolve 1.0 g in 20 mL of dilute hydrochloric acid (1:10). Dissolution should be complete; the solution, clear. Reserve the solution for the test for color of hydrochloric acid solution.

Color of Hydrochloric Acid Solution Transfer a portion of the solution prepared in the test for solubility in hydrochloric acid into a 1 cm curette. Measure the absorbance at 450 nm vs water. The absorbance should not exceed 0.1 AU.

Residue after Ignition [Part 2: Gravimetric Methods; Residue after Ignition]. Ignite 1.0 g.
