THE NEW 6 8 0 SERIES — sets new standards in Infrared 6 8 0 SERIES

The 680 series sets new standards against which all other infrared spectrometers must now be judged. With microprocessors con trolling all instrument functions as well as calculating transmittance or absorbance these instruments repre sent an important advance in infra red technology. Features include: • Ratio recording for exceptional accuracy and sensitivity • Three slit programs with opti mised scan times and digital filtering • Ordinate expansion keyboard selectable from χ 0.1 to χ 100 • Linear absorbance with digital ordinate readout for quantitative measurements • Automatic wavenumber cor rector maintains wavenumber accuracy even on the fastest scan speeds

fWSmmrn Wek Even though the instruments are exceptionally versatile it has never been easier to obtain good quality spectra than with the 680 series. A wide choice of scanning conditions with digital noise filtering that is optimised automatically makes even difficult samples straightforward. Keyboard selection of instrument settings such as baseline, ordinate expansion, and scan limits improves repeatability and minimises the chance of operator error. As well as providing valid results down to 0%T and accuracy better than 0.2%T, ratio recording simplifies operation by eliminating gain and balance adjustments. Linear absorbance pre sentation, ordinate expansion, and digital readout are standard features for precise and rapid quantitative measurements.

To exploit the full potential of the 680 series the Infrared Data Station is available as a plug in accessory. Standard software provides com plete control of the instrument and can supervise unattended automatic operation with a multisampling accessory. Principal routines include spectral subtraction with automatic scaling to look at individual com ponents in mixtures, signal averag ing and digital smoothing to reduce noise levels. The SEARCH package has the unique ability to identify characteristic band patterns in IR spectra and then use this information in a library search. The QUANT package permits the development and storage of complete quantitative procedures for single or multicomponent analyses.
