A Clamp to Prevent Breakage of Separatory Funnels

,

In the course of solvent extraction work, students frequently break the stems of the separatory funnels. This happens because the diameter of the iron support ring is nearly the length of the funnel stopcock, and the careless student breaks the stopcock with the support. In order to avoid such breakage, a double, snap-on clamp was designed. The clamps are made of stainless steel wire of 1.20 m m diameter. With the clamp fastened a t the rack, the separatory funnel snaps in and snaps out easily, without breaking the stem.
