A Convenient Holder for Suction Filtration Flasks Filtration flasks and traps used for water aspiration are notoriously prone to tipping unless held down in some manner. CE-50051.l'hv buic itself is made from 2 x 10 pine and measures 12 X 8112 X 13/8 in. Pilot holes for mounting the clamps are drilled along a line bisecting the block in the long dimension at distances of 3% in. from each end. Countersinking is necessary to accommodate a small flange on the bottom of the clamp. The blocks are sanded, primed, coated with two coats of enamel, and the clamps are then attached by means of Phillips-head screws. These flask holders have proved very popular with students and faculty alike. One drawback is the cost of the clamps ($13.25 each).
