PlastHall-DI DG... diisodecyl glutarate... is an exclusive development of C. R Hall's Research and Development Laboratories. Introduced in 1977, it has won wide acceptance by producers of PVC products where the demand is for permanence, low temperature, low costs, and a light color plasticizer. Advantages over DOA PlastHall-DIDG provides cost effectiveness because of its combination of properties which impart both low temperature flexibility and permanence to PVC compounds. For example, (see table) DIDG gives low temperature properties as good as DOA (dioctyl adipate), yet it is almost half as volatile. DIDG also shows better viscosity stability in plastisols than DOA. Costs 20% less than DOZ PlastHall-DIDG has performance and processing advantages comparable to DOZ (dioctyl azelate) because their molecular weights are nearly the same and because the dibasic acids are members of the same homologous series. PlastHall-DIDG costs approximately 20% less than DOZ and this means cost effectiveness in the finished compound. New light color PlastHall-DIDG is now available in new light color (APHA 60) particularly desirable in PVC applications.

Readily available PlastHall-DIDG is based on readily available isodecyl alcohol (instead of 2-ethyl hexanol) and glutaric acid (instead of adipic acid). Both 2-ethyl hexanol and adipic acid are in occasional short supply or present periodic price problems. The table documents some of the characteristics of PlastHall-DIDG. Plasticizer Properties
