A Laboratory Method for Teflon-to-Glass Connections I t is often necessary t o mnneet chemically inert Teflon t,uhing to glnss or silia. Teflon's low coefficient of friction and lack of elasticity make it difficult to form a tight direct seal. We have found that a simple procedure will ensures tight attachment which can withstand eansidersble pressure. The figure suggests the method. The Teflon tubing is pushed onto a tapered section of the glass or silica, using emery cloth or paper to grip the slippery plrastic. A short piece of Tygon or rubber tubing, placed over the joint as shown in the figure, supplies the necessary sealing pressure on both the glass and Teflon to make a tight joint that will not pull apart.
