A N e w Approach in Promoting Analytical Chemistry Γ^ HOUSING YOUB LIFE'S WORK is too often a matter of chance as most of us can testify. As an undergraduate the opportunity to understand the requirements in a specific field is rather limited. The personality of a professor may arouse interest or permanently prejudice one's ideas about certain fields of science. An experimental program, sponsored by the Analytical Division of ACS in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the Student Affiliates will take place at the Los Angeles National Meeting (see page 44 A). This halfday session will give undergraduate students a chance to present some of their work and then to hear some well known chemists talk of the various analytical specialties. We have many talented speakers in analysis and many of them, fortunately, have agreed to participate in the presentation. Breathing life and personality into chemistry can stimulate latent interest in students and help them intelligently crystal lize a decision to go into graduate study or enter directly into indus trial research. As a counteraction to curriculum changes which many feel are deemphasizing analysis, the proposed plan at Los Angeles merits consider ation for its possible inclusion at the local or regional meeting level.
