A New Associate Editor, and an Appreciation Alert readers will spot some changes in the lineup of Editors on the December and January mastheads. These can be summarized as follows. First, Professor Dwight A. Sweigart, who became the sixth Associate Editor of Organometallics on May 1, 1997, has chosen to step down effective December 31, 2010. Over this 13þ year period, Dwight has dealt with hundreds of authors and thousands of reviewers and served this community with fair and even-handed judgments and a keen eye for detail. He is also well-known to readers through his many contributions to organometallic chemistry, which have included the development of rhodium quinonoid catalysts for carbon-carbon bond formation, the electrophilic activation of π-bound unsaturated hydrocarbons, successful models for the deep hydrodesulfurization of dibenzothiophenes, and the first synthesis of organometallic MOFs. He has also been responsible for seminal advances in organometallic electrochemistry, pioneered the large-scale fabrication and application of ultramicroelectrodes, and demonstrated the quantitative role of distal and proximal hydrogen bonding on the redox properties and the rates of axial ligand binding in heme protein models. As has been the case for 30 years now, Dwight will continue to call Brown University his home base. He joins the ranks of a very select, dignified, and scientifically productive group of former Associate Editors (Richard R. Schrock, Maurice S. Brookhart, and Kenton H. Whitmire). Dwight’s presence will be missed, and all of us wish him the best in his future activities. Second, Professor Franc- ois P. Gabbaı¨ began as an Associate Editor on December 1, 2010. Franc-ois is no stranger to this journal, in which he has published 24 of his 138 research papers. He will have primary responsibility for manuscripts dealing with main-group organometallic chemistry. However, Franc-ois also has considerable experience with transition-metal organometallic chemistry and will help process these manuscripts also. Franc- ois has an impressive range of international experience and credentials. He completed a Maıˆ trise at the University of Bordeaux in 1990, followed by a Ph.D. with Professor Alan H. Cowley at the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. Shortly thereafter, Franc-ois joined the group of Professor Hubert Schmidbaur at the Technical University of Munich as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow. In 1996, he was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship of the European Commission, which allowed him to complete his Habilitation in the same group. He moved to Texas A&M University in 1998, where he now holds a Davidson Professorship in Science. Franc-ois’ current research interests revolve around the chemistry of p-block and late-transition-metal elements with applications in materials chemistry and molecular recognition.
