The unit in atomic weight measures 2 mm. downward from the top along the axis, and that in atomic volume 5 mm. along the radius on which each element belongs. A wire spiral is fastened t o an upright iron support, which represents the vertical axis, set in a hardwood base. The model is 50 cm. high and its projection on the base is oval with the major axis 52 cm. long. Wooden balls with two planed sides are strung on the wire t o represent atoms, typical elements colored white and transitional ones red. The symbol of the element and its atomic number are placed on both planed sides of each ball. On the base the radii are numbered clockwise, 0 (VIII), I, 11, 111, IV, V, VI, and VII. Two short radii are inserted between 0-1 and VII-O to accommodate the first and third members of the triads. It is noteworthy that the typical elements are situated on the external circumferences and the transitional ones on the internal ones, while the rare-earth elements are in between. ACKNOWLEDGMENT
