A Real Gas Program Package A series of Fortran IV computer programs known as the real gas program package, REGAPP, has been developed for use as an instructional aid in undergraduate chemistry and physica courses. REGAPP can be used t o compute gas behavior for six equations of state (ideal, Van der Waals, Dieterici. Berthlot. Beattie-Brideeman and virial). The output consisb of pressure-volume andlor nressure-codorasibilitv f&toidots (usine c a l c o m ~11 inin.dotter) with b~tionalminted computer hardware. REGAPP has stimulated student interest in gas behavior in general and physical chemistry courses. Possible variztions in presentation include isotherms of a single gas, comparison of a series of gases at a single temperature, and comparison of equations of siatefor a single gas at a given temperature. A problem oriented language, COGAS, is currently being developed to enable novice users of REGAPP to easily obtain desired information with less rigid input format requirements. A complete listing of the REGAPP with comment cards, documentation, and references is available from the authors. The authors acknowledge the National Science Foundation for support through the COSIP program.
