A Versatile Chemical System for Instruction in ESR Spectroscopy
nri, hlems. T h e use of flow systems or low-temperature equipment is not practical for large classes and may limit the choice of a paramagnetic species to a simple nitroxide or metal complex. Chemical transformations, to be of ESR-spectroscopic interest, must he carried out a t positions of high spin density in a molecule, and usually this is not possible with such compounds without destroying their paramagnetism. The ESK experiment, therefore, has to he limited to demonstration of a static system.
