A Versatile Recorder Pen Holder Described below is an easily constructed device for holding any fountain or ball paint pen on a vertical recorder such aq on the Infracord. The pen halder was developed because of problems with the continual clogging of recorder pens upon student use. Although some commercial pens are very good, they must be cleaned very frequently and replacements are expensive. ;, +,+-d5+ We can now afford to have many inexpensive ordinary pens on hand so that thestudent always has one that works immeFigure 1. diately. The halder was cut from sheet metal according to the template in Figure 1 (dimensions in centimeters) and bent Figure 2. to form t,he holder as shown in Figure 2. Piece A in Figure 2 fits into the existing pen holder with no alterations in t,he latt,er being necessary. The pelt is posibioncd by thc V slol with its point held in the existing pen halder with the spring B holding the pen in place. Some ball point pens do not work because there is not enough pressure on the paint and some fountain pen inks take too long to dry; we use India. ink.
