-InstrumentsThere is no single trend in the instrument field. Rather, there are a number of areas where users seem to be placing every increasing em phasis. Not the least is the desire for greater accuracy. All are agreed on this trend. While many are turning to complex systems instrumentation, there are many more who are necessarily limited in their modern ization to more simple control devices. This latter group is made up of ι he small manufacturer whose volume business does not warrant the complex instrumentation system more in evidence in the larger chemical plants. The simplified instrumentation field is then far horn saturated even as the more sophisticated system instrumentation approach gains momentum. As with most other types of processing equipment, there is an increasing need for materials that will standup under higher temperatures and pressures. An added requirement with instruments is that there shall be no loss in accuracy at the elevated temperature or pressure. Lists of materials of construction, with em phasis on corrosion-resistant ma terials, grow longeras new combina-

See a MILL DRIVE that gives 98%-plus efficiency Procedyne Systems Analyzer, a special purpose computer for improved process amiral, provides convenient analysis of process dynamics using transient tech niques. The analyzer computes fre quency response function from impulse response data in one simple operation requiring a few minutes to perform. No specialized programming is needed. It is an extremely valuable on-site tool for setting instrument constants during start up periods, solving difficult process con trol problems, and obtaining design data to improve systems control. Analyzer gener ates sinusoidal signals or pulse signals for test purposes. Unit is priced at about $9700 with a plotter.

In recent full-load demonstrations, the TWINDUCER drive (which divides the mill load electrically) showed efficiencies of 98.5 percent. This development is just one product of Allis-Chalmers unmatched grinding mill experience. You can rely on A C for the application knowledge . . . the design and manufacturing abilities that produce superior equipment for added efficiency.
