Improved resolution, efficiency, and precision often result from o p e r a t i o n of LC c o l u m n s at c o n t r o l l e d t e m p e r a t u r e s above ambient. Temperature control is e s p e c i a l l y i m p o r t a n t w h e n an a u t o s a m p l e r is used, to avoid d r i f t as r o o m t e m p e r a t u r e changes.

BAS offers a low cost column heating system w h i c h accepts all standard 15, 25, and 30cm LC columns (oversize diameters can be a c c e p t e d w i t h custom modifications). The LC-23A anodized full contact heating block outperforms models w h i c h leave c o l u m n and/or endfittings exposed or in air gaps.

The LC-22A solid state temperature c o n t r o l l e r may be used independently with other heating elements and probes for a variety of laboratory applications.

20th International Symposium on Advances in Chromatography New York, N.Y. April 16-19, 1984. The meeting will feature papers in all fields of chromatography and, in particular, new developments in gas, liquid, and high-performance thin-layer chromatography. There will also be a commercial exhibition of the latest instrumentation and books. Authors should submit a 200-word abstract by Dec. 1 to A. Zlatkis, Chemistry Department, University of Houston, Houston, Tex. 77004; 713-749-2623.

XXIII International Conference on Coordination Chemistry Boulder, Colo. July 29-Aug. 3,1984. The conference is intended to provide a forum for discussion of recent research in metal coordination chemistry, to stimulate progress and interaction between subfields in coordination chemistry, and to foster new ideas and concepts. Abstracts are solicited in, but not limited to, the following areas: energetics and dynamics, catalysis, bioinorganic, synthesis, and techniques and applications, including mass spectrometric techniques applied to coordination compounds. All contributed papers will be in the poster presentation and discussion format. For instructions on preparing abstracts, contact Cortlandt Pierpont, Campus Box 449, University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo. 80309. The final date for receipt of abstracts is Dec. 1.

Meetings The following meetings are newly listed in ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY. Other 1983 and 1984 meetings are listed in the July, August, and September issues. 1984 • Second Topical Meeting on Laser Techniques in the Extreme Ultraviolet. March 5-7. Boulder,

IN FIVE CONVENIENT STYLES Dissolve or digest analytical samples in strong acids or alkalis rapidly and safely with complete recovery of all trace elements. With the ability to hold HF, HCI, H2SO4 and other strong mineral acids at temperatures well above normal boiling points, these reliable PARR bombs offer rapid and safe procedures for dissolving silicates, ores and other difficult inorganic samples in strong acids, including aqua regia. They are equally suitable for digesting organic samples in strong alkalis or acids. PARR acid digestion bombs are now made in five different styles for a variety of conditions up to 285°C and 5000 psig. All have removable, Teflon liners in stainless steel bodies with convenient closures, positive seals and other exclusive PARR features. Our new 10-page Bulletin 4745 describes these bombs and their many unique applications in detail.
