BAROMETRIC CONDENSERS Engineered FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES Barometric condensers provide an economical means of condensation for most high vacuum processes. Operating by means of gravity, a barometric condenser requires no costly pump for the elimination of the condensate, merely sufficient headroom for a 34-foot tailpipe. Barometric condensers are especially adaptable •where there is no need to recover the con densate—where there is a high percentage of incondensible gases—where there are unusual fluctuations in the load—where the water supply is dirty or vapors contain solids. T w o that have proven most successful in actual operation are the Acme Counter-Current and the Acme Patented Multi-Jet, described below. THE ACME PATENTED MULTI-JET BAROMETRIC CONDENSER . . . T h e m o s t economical condenser where vacua not e x c e e d i n g 2 7 " H g . are to be attained. Vapors entering the c o n d e n s e r rise through a cold spray from a series o f c o n v e r g i n g jets, adjustable for maximum condensa-

tion. T h i s countercurrent movement assures more complete condensation. T h e jets, in turn, wash the incondensible gases, along with the condensate, d o w n through the tailpipe, without the use of an ejector or intercondenser. T h i s process is made possible only through a patented arrangement with sealed baffles that permit the use of jets, w h i l e preventing the escape of vapors, thus forced to the t o p of the condenser. THE ACME COUNTER-CURRENT BAROMETRIC CONDENSER W h e r e vacua exceeding 2 7 " H g . are t o be attained, w e r e c o m m e n d use of the A c m e Counter-Current Conden ser. Besides the advantages previously noted, this unit is less expensive to construct and more compact in design than other comparable equipment. It c o n s u m e s less water and is scientifically proportioned for min imum pressure drop. Construction is simple and all parts are readily accessible. Available in many c o m binations with ejectors and intercondensers, A c m e barometric c o n d e n s e r s are specifically d e s i g n e d for any desired vacua and for most efficient operation in any par ticular process o r under any set of operating c o n d i t i o n s .
