acrylic acid-technical from economical new direct process Dow Badische produces technical grade acrylic acid directly, as an intermediate in the production of high grade acrylic esters for industry. This direct process developed by Badische—and believed to be new to the U.S. chemical scene—now gives industry an economical source of acrylic acid-technical. Other products available from Dow Badische's new plant in Freeport, Texas, are listed below. SUGGESTED USES OF ACRYLIC ACID-TECHNICAL • As an intermediate in the manufacture of: — Latexes—to improve emulsion stability, adhesion, compatibility, oil and grease resistance and impart thermosetting characteristics — Resins—to improve adhesion, oil and grease resistance and impart water and alkali solubility and thermosetting characteristics —Acrylic esters not commercially available —Salts of inorganic bases • As a strong organic acid

• As a monomer to make polyacrylic acid or copolymers with other vinyl monomers.
