Correction In the table at the end of the 1976 annual report of the ACS Committee on Professional Training (C&EN, March 21, page 52), part of the listing for Rutgers University on page 56 is incorrect. The number of M.S. and Ph.D. degrees awarded from the New Brunswick, N.J., department of chemistry, which comprises both Douglass College and Rutgers College, is missing. (Newark College of Arts & Science is located in Newark, N.J.) The correct listing of chemistry graduates is: Bachelors certified YES NO

ACS hosts reception for science counselors, attaches Science counselors and science attaches from U.S. embassies in other countries who were attending their annual conference at the State Department in Washington, D.C, recently were treated to an informal reception hosted by ACS at its headquarters office. Also present were representatives of the State Department, science attaches from several other countries stationed at embassies in Washington, and ACS officers and staff members. Among those comparing international experiences during the reception were (left to right) Alan Smith, counselor (science and technology) at the British embassy in Washington; Allen Greenberg, counselor for scientific and technical affairs at the U.S. embassy in Moscow; and Dr. Edgar L. Piret of the society's staff. Piret was science counselor for a number of years at the U.S. embassy in Paris and initiated ACS's role as host for the U.S. science counselors and attaches shortly after joining the staff in 1975.
