ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces

Editor-in-Chief: Kirk Schanze University of Florida

The new international forum for applied materials science and engineering Led by Professor Kirk Schanze of the University of Florida, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces aims to become the international publication of choice for the interdisciplinary community of chemists, engineers, physicists and biologists focusing on how newly-discovered materials and interfacial processes can be developed and used for specific applications. The journal publishes full length articles and letters from researchers in academia and industry in addition to featuring comments and forums dedicated to advancing applied materials research. Topic covered by ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces include: Q Q

advanced active and passive electronic/optical materials

Q

colloids

Q

hybrid and composite materials

Q

biomaterials and bio-interfaces

Q

friction and wear

coatings

Q

polymer materials

Kirk Schanze earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Florida State University in 1979 and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1983. He was appointed a Miller Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1984-1986 and began his post-graduate research career at the University of Florida in 1986. Schanze has served as Professor of Chemistry and Chairman of the Organic Chemistry Division at the University of Florida since 1997. Since 2003, he has authored or co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles on basic and applied research topics, with a primary focus on organic and organometallic materials chemistry, and is named in 10 patents or disclosures.
