Feeling Rejected? ACS Chemical Neuroscience Can Help Get Your Science to the Neuroscience Community As Quickly As Possible any of the top Journals in the neuroscience field reject a large percentage of high quality manuscripts that would have major impact on the field. Why? Often reviewers require additional experiments that might require significant time and/ or constitute an entire new paper beyond what the authors originally intended. At other times, authors fall victim to a predetermined level of rejection, wherein only a small percentage of submitted manuscripts are accepted and published. Under both scenarios, great neuroscience is not published in a timely fashion and major advances can be curtailed. ACS Chemical Neuroscience wants to offer authors a new optionan option to get your work published quickly after a rejection. I encourage my colleagues to submit their rejected manuscript (along with the reviews) to ACS Chemical Neuroscience. We can offer a very quick decision (7 days) provided authors address the reviewer concerns in the resubmitted manuscript and cover letter. I am not saying you have to do all the additional work requested in the reviews; I want to see how you address their concerns (e.g., the work might stand on its own without extensive additional studies). Accepted manuscripts at ACS Chemical Neuroscience can appear as Just Accepted Manuscripts (JAM) on the journal website with a DOI number in less than 24 h, if the author chooses this option for publication. For all manuscripts submitted to ACS Chemical Neuroscience, we are in the process of reducing the peer review deadlines for all manuscript types to further accelerate the time to first decision (currently averaging 21 days, and targeting a 30% reduction) and thus, ultimately, faster acceptance/publication. This is a great time to work in the neuroscience field, and I want to see your work published and reach the largest possible audience in the absolute shortest time period possible. I encourage you to take advantage of our new effort in the rapid handling of previously rejected manuscripts, and I hope all will appreciate our efforts in reducing peer review time. As always, ACS Chemical Neuroscience has no publication charges, no fee for color, and flexibility with page length/number of figures/ tables, and is eager for author ideas for cover art!
