A conference on recent international developments in high school chemical education will be held at the Society's headquarters in Washington, Aug. 29 through Sept. 2. Arranged by ACS, the conference will be attended by about 15 leading educators from abroad and 25 from the United States. The five-day meeting has been planned to acquaint the participants with new developments in chemistry curriculums and review materials for teaching high school chemistry that have been devised in the various countries. The conference also is intended to create a working relationship among chemical educators in many countries, thus encouraging a continuous exchange of new ideas.

The book "Men and Molecules," based on the ACS weekly radio series of the same name, is getting wide recognition in scientific and educational circles as shown by its recent selection as a book club feature and its imminent translation into Japanese. "Men and Molecules" will be the July selection of Popular Science Book Club, which features one new volume a month. After July, "Men and Molecules" will be backlisted in the club's list of available books. Japanese translation rights have been bought by Hosei University Press, Tokyo. The Japanese edition should be out in about a year. MAY 1, 1967 C&EN
