ACS National Meeting

CHED Events CHED-Sponsored Workshops High School Program Time: Sunday, March 28, 8:30 a.m–3:45 p.m. Location: Coastline Community College, Garden Grove Center, Garden Grove Fee: $30 Description: The Chemistry Classroom Today, Visions for Tomorrow is the theme for High School Chemistry Teachers’ Day. The keynoted address will be given by Patrick Wegner, California State University, Fullerton, titled “Chemistry Teaching in the 21st Century”. Arlene Russell, UCLA, will give the luncheon address. Other participants include Steven and Susan Zumdahl and representatives from the Terrific Science program, Vernier Scientific, and the ACS Education Division. Quantum Explorations in a PLTL Setting Time: Monday, March 29, 1–4 p.m. Location: Clarion Hotel, California 1 Room Fee: none Description: Participants will be introduced to the use of Quantum Explorer software (http://quantumconcepts.bu.edu) structured to support PLTL explorations of quantization, wave functions, atomic structure, hybridization, and spectroscopy. Participants are expected to bring a PC laptop computer with a CD-ROM drive. CHED Committee and Task Force Meetings The CHED committee meetings that are planned for the Spring 2004 ACS Meeting in Anaheim will take place in the Clarion Hotel, 616 Convention Way. The exception is the CHED Business Meeting, which will be held in the Convention Center. These are open meetings, and all CHED members are invited to attend.
