1994 Subscription Prices /. M. Kolthoffwas born in Holland and received his Ph.D. from the University of Utrecht in 1918. In 1927 he came to this country as professor and chief of the Division ofAnalytical Chemistry at the University of Minnesota and held this position until his appointment as professor emeritus in 1962. Kolthoff received numerous honors and awards and served in leadership capacities in many national and international scientific organizations over the years of his career. His research interests were in analytical and physical chemistry with main topics of research in potentiometry, conductometry, polarography, theory and application of indicators, acid-base equilibria, and titrations in aqueous and nonaqueous media and precipitation phenomena. Kolthoff, who died on March 4,1993, was in the enviable position of watching his educational grandchildren pursue outstanding careers in research and teaching.
