The course demonstrates practical and advanced techniques of high resolution GC. Lecture materials and demonstrations of the techniques in the field will include discussions of capillary characteristics, recognition of good and bad capillary separations (and how to correct poor results), how to develop capillary GC methods, capillary-GC/MS, micro-GC techniques, a comparison of applications, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, quantitation, sampling and injection techniques, and factors influencing the separation conditions. Also, laboratory experiments will be offered. All attendees are asked to bring a pocket calculator.
