Actinide Separations

Based on a symposium sponsored by the Division of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry of the American Chemical Society. New concepts, new systems, and new developments in actinide separations methodology. Analytical chemists, chemical engineers, process chemists, and nuclear chemists representing several countries and various disciplines update ongoing research concerning actinide recovery, partition, and purification. This excellent reference volume thoroughly explores the fundamental actinide chemistry developed since the Manhattan Project, emphasizing the key role that chemical separations play in the manufacture of actinide elements, as well as their recovery and analysis, in the nuclear fuel cycle.

Instrument Cases. Guide contains aids such as case selector guide, size chart, cushioning and EMI/RFI shielding data, panel mounting layouts, finishes, and hardware selection. 30 pp. TA Instrument Case Co. 454 Microscopy Products. Featured items include service kits, immunological reagents, a reusable carbon mount system for SEMs, TEM grids and chemicals, calibration aids, and reagents for immunoelectron microscopy. 80 pp. SPI Supplies 455 Specialty Gases. Buying guide provides data on 46 different pure gases in up to seven purity grades ranging from 99.0% to 99.99% and on 140 standard multicomponent calibration gases in many concentrations. 212 pp. Scott Specialty Gases 456

CONTENTS The first of six sections covers separation using ion exchange and precipitation methods; the second details solvent extraction methods of separation. The next group of chapters is devoted to separation by various pyrochemical and photochemical methods. Power reactor fuel reprocessing is the common theme of the following section; the fifth section discusses actinide recovery from waste solution. A segment on general methods and review papers ends this compilation of state-of-the-art topics.
