he authors found that the caption of Figure 1 is incomplete. The complete caption is “European Marine Subregions with locations where priority dissolved trace metals were measured by the scientific community in Portuguese and Spanish marine waters (black dots). Embebed graphics show box plots with the distribution of concentrations of each metal reported in the scientific literature from different marine subregions2−5. Black horizontal lines in graphics indicate the established maximum allowable concentration and the annual average concentration indicated by the EU (EQS-MAC and EQS-AA, respectively) and the detection limits of each Spanish administrative divisions.” The addition of this information is necessary to interpret the Figure. The authors regret the omission.
