ANALYTICAL CHEMIST The Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station has an immediate opening for a full-time Analytical Chemist at the Assistant Scientist II level. The job requires training and expertise in elemental analysis of samples including, but not limited to, foods, soils, water, fertilizers, and animal feeds. Work in the Department of Analytical Chemistry is related to critical activities in food and environmental security as part of our participation in federal laboratory networks and cooperative agreement programs. The Department is equipped with inductively coupled plasma and both atomic emission and mass spectral detectors as well as complementary support instrumentation. The successful candidate is expected to hold the Ph.D. degree, to participate in analyses for other State of Connecticut agencies, and to support research activities across The Station. In addition, the successful candidate will develop his/ her own research projects and is expected to actively solicit extramural funding. Excellent communication skills in writing and presentation are necessary since the position requires considerable interaction with state and federal partners and Connecticut citizens. The senior candidate of this cluster is expected to play a leadership role as an Endowed Chair holder and Director of the Center for Clean Coal (CCC).
