POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AT SNOLAB IN RADIO-CHEMISTRY AND PROCESS CHEMISTRY SNOLAB is the deepest underground ultra-clean facility in the world and is a leading location for conducting frontier experiments in astroparticle physics. Current experiments under construction include detectors for cosmological dark matter, neutrino-less double-beta decay, solar neutrinos, geo-neutrinos, reactor neutrinos, and supernovae monitoring. The successful applicant would be expected to play a major role in the design, construction, and operation of the liquid scintillator process plants for the SNO+ experiment. The R&D effort includes solvent purification processes, production methods for metal loaded scintillators, and the development of a novel assay technique using metal scavengers and low-level radioactivity counting to analyze Ra, Pb, and Bi level below 10-17 g/g. This work is in collaboration with researchers at SNOLAB, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Queen’s University, and Laurentian University. We are seeking applicants with a PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering, or experimental nuclear physics with radio-chemistry experience, or in a closely related field. The candidates should have demonstrated ability to lead efforts in chemical process development, instrumentation, and data analysis. he University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Polymer Nanotechnology. Preference will be given to those candidates that have a strong background in the areas of polymer nanotechnology and nanocomposites that complement the existing faculty; however, outstanding candidates from all areas of polymer science and engineering are encouraged to apply. Exceptional candidates may be considered at a higher rank. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering, polymer or materials science and engineering, chemistry or a related field, and are expected to teach core courses in chemical engineering as well as courses in a polymer chemistry and engineering curriculum.

A position is available in the USTAR Alternative Energy Cluster, with corresponding tenure-track academic appointment in one or more science/engineering departments. We anticipate hiring at the Assistant Professor level, however, exceptionally qualified senior candidates may be considered. The Alternative Energy Cluster, as well as the research of many other groups at the University of Utah, is focused on chemical or materials-based approaches to energy production, storage, and conversion, including but not limited to photo- or electro-catalysis, solar fuels and electrofuels, photovoltaics, batteries, and fuel cells. Assistant Professor candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to develop vigorous, well-funded research programs and to be excellent teachers at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
