FURMAN UNIVERSITY TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION: ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY Furman University’s Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Analytical Chemistry starting in June or August 2011. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience in the discipline. Applicants should submit a CV, transcripts of undergraduate and graduate work, a letter describing their interest in teaching and conducting research with undergraduates in the college environment, and summaries of research programs that they would initiate at Furman University. Furman’s chemistry program emphasizes excellence in classroom teaching and working with talented students in research. The research program involves approximately 60 undergraduates each summer, coordinated with a research-oriented master’s degree program. Substantial research start-up support is available. THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL AND BIOMOLECULAR ENGINEERING AT VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level for Fall 2011. Tenure-Track/Tenure-Eligible Investigator Position in Chemical Biology The Chemical Biology Laboratory (CBL), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) is accepting applications for the position of Tenure Track/TenureEligible Investigator to develop an independent research program addressing problems at the interface of chemistry and biology.

MEMBER OF THE TECHNICAL STAFF GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE SCIENCE ExxonMobil Research and Engineering has an immediate opening for a Member of the Technical Staff in its Corporate Strategic Research Laboratory located in Clinton, NJ.

Ideal candidates will establish dynamic, collaborative programs that develop and apply chemical methods, tools, and materials to define and manipulate the biological processes that impact cancer and/or AIDS. Additionally, Investigator is expected to establish an internationally recognized program and direct a research group composed of postdoctoral fellows and technicians. Of particular interest are chemists developing and implementing novel imaging tools; chemists controlling cell fate via small molecules; and synthetic chemists developing novel methodology to enable the preparation of complex biologically active molecules.

Candidates are sought to fill a key position in the Corporate Strategic Research Laboratory of ExxonMobil Research and Engineering in the area of Global Climate Change Science. A strong background in science and engineering fundamentals is essential, particularly in the areas of computational modeling and mathematics. The successful candidate will help develop and advance our internal capabilities in the areas of climate science as well as energy resource modeling, with a focus on understanding and interpreting how changes in energy technologies, economics, policies/regulation, market conditions and climate could impact energy supply and its use.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry or related Physical Science. Although this search is directed at the tenure-track level, outstanding candidates at the tenured level will also be considered.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong scientific leadership within both the corporation and the external scientific community. Strong communication skills are essential, as collaboration with other science areas is critical for success. A PhD in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical), Physics or a related field is required. Candidates with all levels of experience will be considered.

The position is located at the NCI campus in Frederick, MD. This location offers state-ofthe-art Chemical Biology laboratories as well as core facilities including mass spectrometry; NMR spectroscopy; protein expression and proteomics; electron, optical and small animal imaging, and other advanced technologies. The Incumbent will be provided with laboratory space, research equipment, staff support, and an annual supply budget.

ExxonMobil’s Corporate Strategic Research (CSR) laboratory is a dynamic and exciting place to work.
