AEROSIL takes the cake It doesn't take much of that pyrogenic silica, AEROSIL, to make caking materials flow like flour. Minute quantities do the job Less than 1 % of AEROSIL works with most materials. It is sufficient to keep industrial salts pouring smoothly. 0.25% makes sulphur freeflowing. In foods, agricultural and other chemicals, pharmaceuticals and many other products, a little AEROSIL goes a long way. How does submicroscopic AEROSIL work? With hygroscopic and caking substances, AEROSIL surrounds each particle with a protective coating that prevents sticking in high heat or humidity. To demonstrate AEROSIL's efficiency and economical use: if a powder with an average particle size of 22 microns is

kept free-flowing by only 1 % of AEROSIL, each powder particle would be surrounded by 3 million AEROSIL particles. With waxy or oily materials, AEROSIL particles form a heat barrier to help maintain integrity under heat or pressure. AEROSIL gives you two distinct approaches. Hydrophilic AEROSIL adsorbs moisture to keep it away from your product. It can soak up about 40% its weight of water and still flow freely. Newly developed hydrophobic AEROSIL R-972 offers striking solutions to many unsolved problems. It provides your product with a water repellent shield which cannot be penetrated. AEROSIL R-972 is most successfully used to improve the flow and storage properties of powder-type fire extinguishers. It does not affect the foaming properties.

(and makes it flow) AEROSIL speeds production and handling You get new ease, more accuracy in measuring. AEROSIL cuts caking and clogging on mill equipment. You can grind faster, reduce stoppages. Where vibrators keep materials flowing out of blenders or in bagging, AEROSIL aids flow. Bulk shipments of usually problem materials arrive uncaked and easy to unload. Materials in storage stay free-flowing. You increase the .shelf life of insecticides, dehydrated food and other powders. AEROSIL does more than take the cake It helps suspend, disperse or reinforce. It alters flow characteristics in liquids. It is used for thickening or thixotropy. Often it creates two or three different, desirable effects without affecting basic formulation. And AEROSIL has F.D.A. approval. A list of approved applications is yours on request.

With so many applications and 11 AEROSIL grades available, we can't detail all the possibilities. Tell us what you want to accomplish. You'll get a generous sample of the likeliest grade and suggestions on how AEROSIL can help you. • Send details on AEROSIL • Send sample I am interested in AEROSIL for use in
