"ERT'S PSD PERMITTING STRATEGY PUT OUR NEW MILLER BREWERY ON THE FAST TRACK!"
— Russell Turner, Manager of Environmental Affairs and Energy Conservation, Miller Brewery
"Our new mideast brewery was a key part of our expansion strategy to keep Miller out in front in its competitive market. We needed an environmental consulting firm with solid regional experience, to ensure that we took the fastest and most economical permitting route to start our construction on schedule. We turned to ERT. "Our best site was located in an area designated as non attainment which made our air permitting requirements particularly tough. ERT had worked extensively in EPA region 5 and had the experience, knowledge of the regulations and sensitivity to the regional issues that enabled them to develop an effective per mitting strategy. They determined that the non attainment designation for the area was based on measurements taken well outside the site for our brewery. Using innovative analysis techniques, they were then able to effectively demonstrate a "clean pocket" around the site. EPA 5's acceptance ofthis clean pocket eliminated the need for emission offsets which could have seriously delayed the project and escalated costs. We then worked closely with ERT to develop detailed modeling data to successfully show that we would not significantly impact this clean pocket area. "We began our work with ERT on the air quality permits in January of 1979 and we had the permits in-hand by August of that year. I'd call that a good fast track record." For everyone who recognizes the value of doing the job right the first time, ERT is the firm to call. With offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C., we know your territory.
