New! TriGarb Automatic Sample Oxidizer 3

Combusts 4D H Samples an hour far Liquid Scintillation Counting

Pad-sard

Say goodbye to time-consuming and troublesome methods of preparing tritium samples for liquid scintillation counting. The new Model 300 Tri-Carb Sample Oxidizer does the work automatically, at a rate that makes the method practical for virtually every experiment involving tritium as a tracer.

of the sample and counting vial, and pushbutton initiation and control of the combustion process. The balance of the cycle—including addition of scintillator—is carried out through automatic sequencing within the Sample Oxidizer.

The Tri-Carb Sample Oxidizer provides recoveries of 97-99%+ for many materials, with routine achievement of 1 % standard deviation. (This can be reduced to 0.3% in many cases, making the deviation essentially that resulting from dispensing errors and counting statistics.) Efficiencies of 80 to 95% of those obtained with a sealed, unquenched tritium toluene standard are achieved.

Nitrogen purging is used to eliminate oxygen quenching, and because no manual handling is necessary during the cycle, the method is relatively insensitive to the operating skills of the user. Thus, a high degree of sample standardization is achieved.

The new instrument, based on the pending Kaartinen* patents, combines the speed of closed system flame combustion with the advantage of unlimited tritium sample size. The only manual operations are positioning
