American Chemical Society Division of Fuel Chemistry Henry H. Storch Award The purpose of the Henry H. Storch Award is to recognize distinguished contributions worldwide to fundamental or engineering research on the chemistry and utilization of all hydrocarbon fuels, with the exception of petroleum. The Storch Award is given biennially to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to research in the field of fuel science. This includes research on all aspects of the chemistry and utilization of all hydrocarbon fuels, with the exception of petroleum. The research may have been carried out over a long time period (e.g., a lifetime achievement award) or may be particularly innovative research conducted over a relatively short time period (several years). Special consideration will be given to innovation and novelty in the use of fuels, characterization of fuels, and advances in fuel chemistry that benefit the public welfare or the environment. The award was established in 1964 by the American Chemical Society Division of Fuel Chemistry and administered by the Division until 1985. From 1987 to 1996 it was sponsored by Exxon Research and Engineering Company. The Division of Fuel Chemistry is again sponsoring the award. The award consists of $5,000, a suitably engraved plaque, and an expense allowance of up to $1,500 for travel to the spring American Chemical Society meeting at which the award will be presented. In addition, the awardee will have an opportunity to give a presentation along with several others selected by the awardee at a special symposium. Nomination material required is a nominating letter from a member of the Division, two supporting letters, and a current resume of the nominee. Also, inclusion of several major publications by the nominee would be appreciated. All nomination material should be sent to the Chair of the Division, Harold Schobert, before July 15, 1998, at the following address: Prof. Harold H. Schobert, Pennsylvania State University, Fuel Science Program, 209 Academic Projects Bldg., University Park, PA 16802. Recipients of the Storch Award 1964 1965 1966 1967 1968 1969 1971 1972
