An Easily Constructed Tetrahedron Model
A model of a tetrahedron, which is necessary for teaching stereochemistry (especially of organic compounds) can easily be made by using a sealed, empty envelope. The steps are illustrated in the figure and given below. 1) The envelope is folded down the center lengthwise. 2) The lower part of the envelope is folded up so that the corner B falls on the center line. This point on the line is marked as E, and a line CED, perpendicular to the center line at E, is drawn. 3) The upper part of the envelope is out off along the horizontal line, CED. The remaining portion is folded both backwards and farwmdds dong the lines A E and BE. 4) The envelope is opened, points C and D me forced to approach and meet, and finally are put together with pasting tape, to produce a tetrahedron model.
