An Easily Fabricated pH Cell eambinol8on

A convenient pH cell has been constructed for use in titration experiments where the solution should be protected from the air. The cell has a large opening that will s'ccomodate both a buret and electrode. It also aides sample introduction. The cell also has the advantage of needing only about 5 ml of initial solution. An additional 40 ml of titrant can be added. Nitrogen or another gas may be placed over the sample solution. The cell can be fabricated by cutting the bottom off a 50-ml Erlenmeyer flask. The neck of the flask is then fused to a small Petri dish. A no. 10 stopper cut in half will seal the bottom of the flaskperfectly.
