We found that the plastic supporting cup of the family-size soft drink bottle serves very well as the round-bottom-flask stand in replacing the cork ring usually used. The 1.25-L one fits well with the 250-mL flask while the 2-L one is suitable for the I-L flask. The plastic cup can be easily removed from the bottle after the adhesive a t the connection is softened with some ethyl acetate. So remove the hottoms before you throw away the soft drink bottles.
