Charles G. Wade manages the Materi als Analysis Laboratory in the Poly mer Sciences and Technology Depart ment at the IBM Almaden Research Center. He received a bachelor's de gree from Southern Illinois University and a Ph.D. in chemistry from MIT. His research includes uses of NMR to study dynamics and diffusion in liquid crystals, membranes, living cells, and biopolymers.

Stephen B. Philson manages the NMR laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Minne sota. He received a bachelor's degree from Washington University and a master's degree and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois. An NMR researcher for 18 years, he has been director of the Minnesota facility since 1981.
