ImÊmmmmÊi annoucing TWO NEW ESTERS OF PFIZER ITACONIC ACID Pfizer, which recentty made Itaconic Acid available in quantity, now offers two reactive and versatile monomers from pilot plant production: Dimethyl Itaconate and Dibutyl Itaconate. These diesters copolymerize readily with many other monomers, including acrylonitrile, the methacrylates, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, styrene and butadiene. Polymers and copolymers of itaconic esters are useful as thermoplastic sheets and molding powders, solvent and emulsion coatings, binders, water-soluble thickeners and adhesives. Dimethyl Itaconate and Dibutyl Itaconate are also useful as intermediates for pharmaceuticals, photographic chemicals and surface active agents.
