HEN YOU GET all through engi neering a steam heated proc ess equipment installation, its per formance will depend on whether your steam traps will do what the catalog said. Now, in theory, if you know the size of a steam trap orifice, you can figure how much water can be pushed through it in a given time by a given steam pressure. But, in practice, this doesn't work out. The picture is scrambled by things like the choking effect of flash steam and restriction of flow through the trap and piping.
