Effective band width 20 m m u , suitable for either spec trophotometry or colorimetry. Provides monochromatic light in the range from 375 m m u in the violet to 950 m m u in infrared. Wavelength dial graduated at intervals of 5 mmu. Consisting of diffraction grating monochromator with prefocused light source and fixed slits ; phototubes ; elec tronic amplification system a n d built-in transformer for a.c. operation; meter for direct indication of transmis sion a n d optical density; and readily interchangeable holders for test tubes or cells. T h r e e controls adjust the wavelength setting, light intensity and zero, respectively. Results are reproducible within 0 . 5 % .

THOMAS ROTO-CELL A liquid-cooled double cell 0( carrier, for rapid spectro photometry: scanning at con trolled temperatures. Readily interchangeable with the single place sample holder of "Spec tronic 2 0 " ; permits instantaneous interchange within the instrument of a 1 ml sample and blank or standard into the light path, thereby greatly facilitating preparation of spectral transmission or absorption curves. Consisting of a swivel-action, water jacketed holder, with lightproofing collar, slotted carrier for two 1 ml cells, and control knob with stops for positioning either cell, and for completely blocking the light beam for checking dark cur rent adjustment.
