The final structure determination of the didemnins was carried out almost simultaneously by two research groups. Although not the first reports to reassign the structures of the originally proposed (2R,4R)-HIP (2R,4R-hydroxyisovalerylpropionate) and (3S,4R)-statine residues to (2S,4S)-HIP and (3S,4R,5S)-isostatine, respectively, the following references were among the first to be published in the general literature: Ewing, W.
