Associate Editors, Past, Present, and Future: A Warm Welcome to Professor Deryn E. Fogg

Research Chair. Along the way, she received the Strem Chemicals Award of the Canadian Society for Chemistry for outstanding research in inorganic chemistry (2007) and was elected a fellow of the Canadian Institute for Chemistry (2009), among many other recognitions. Deryn’s current research interests revolve around the chemistry of the late transition metals, with applications in molecular catalysis, and a particular focus on the potential of mechanistic insights as a guide to implementation. As symbolized in Figure 2, Deryn is only the second Associate Editor of Organometallics to reside outside of the United States, although readers can expect this number to gradually increase. Regarding past Editors, we sadly note that Prof. Dwight Sweigart passed away during the last year (d. November 29, 2012). Several brief tributes to his life and scientific career are now available.1
n July, readers will encounter a new Associate Editor on the masthead. Professor Deryn E. Fogg of the University of Ottawa (Figure 1) will become the tenth person to serve

Organometallics in this capacity. Her predecessors and contemporaries, who constitute quite a distinguished group, are given in Table 1. Deryn is very well-known to most all of us, having published more than 20 of her 80+ papers in this journal. These, as well as her many invited lectures at meetings and symposia, evidence both the exemplary scientific standards and keen analytical abilities one expects in an Editor. Deryn is a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, a gateway between two of the North American “Great Lakes”, and completed her Ph.D. with Professor Brian James at the University of British Columbia in 1994. Following postdoctoral work with former Associate Editor Dick Schrock at MIT (1995−1997), she was appointed as a faculty member at the University of Ottawa, where she now holds a University © 2013 American Chemical Society
