Model IL 555 CTF (controlled-temperature furnace) atomizer is designed to replace the system in atomic absorption instruments for applications which require great improve ments in analytical sensitivity or the direct analysis of solid or viscous materials. Com pared to the burner, the IL 555 has about 100X better concentration sensitivity and 1000X better absolute (sample weight) sensitivity. It features true temperature feedback and rapid heating rate. Pyrolytically coated graphite microboats are available as an alternative choice to the hollow graphite cylinders for sample containers. $5000. Instrumentation Laboratory, Inc. 404

Chromatography Automation System HP 3385A system consists of an inter active keyboard-controlled terminal with a printer/plotter and a module c o n taining the processor and magnetic card reader and recorder. The system controls one analytical instrument at a time. Up to five instruments may be connected to the 3385A, and the opera tor can select manually the one he wishes to control. Features include au tomatic recalibration and averaging of calibration data. The ability to change parameters between runs allows auto matic sequencing for analysis of differ ent samples. The system offers 10 time-programmable functions for c o m plete control of integrator events such as tangent skimming and baselines. Op tions include programmable controls for automatic liquid samplers and a gen eral-purpose output board for the con trol of valves. $6000. Hewlett-Packard 407
