ATTENTION RUBBER CHEMISTS:
THERE'S ONLYONE POSSIBLE REASON FOR NOT USING AT LEAST ONEOFOUR EPOLENE WAXES. YOU DIDN'T KNOW IT EXISTED. lEPOLENE E - 1 4
Oxidized polyethylene wax, this product functions as a slip agent and lubricant in rubber and vinyl. Ease of processabihty is one of its benefits.
EPOLENE N - 1 0
Polyethylene wax of a medium density and relatively low melting point, EPOLENE N-10 is easily blended with natural and synthetic rubber to provide good processing characteristics and gives good finish.
EPOLENE N i l &N-14
EPOLENE N - l l is similar to EPOLENE N-10 except for lower molecular weight and melt viscosity. It has applications similar to those of EPOLENE N-10 but offers additional advantages because of its lower melt viscosity and softening point, EPOLENE N-14, resembles EPOLENE N - l l in most physical properties and applications. It differs primarily in having a slightly lower melt viscosity which is often desirable when used as a processing aid in rubber.
EPOLENE N-12 &N-45
EPOLENE N-12 is similar to EPOLENE N - l l except in density and melting point. A medium-to-high density material, EPOLENE N-12 is very hard and has a high melting point. In certain applications, hardness may be desirable. EPOLENE N-45 is similar to EPOLENE N-12 except for even higher density, hardness and melting point, EPOLENE N-45 also finds use as a mold release additive for rubber molding and as an extrusion aid for vinyl processing.
EPOLENE N - 3 4
A very soft polyethylene which offers a combination of low melting point, low viscosity and low molecular weight. These properties make EPOLENE N-34 particularly useful as an internal lubricant in rubber and plastics formulations. It fluxes easily into the compound and provides good plasticizing action and release characteristics during mixing and extrusion or molding.
EPOLENE C - 1 0
A low density, low-melting point wax. EPOLENE C-10 has many of the properties of the ! plastic-grade, lowT density resins of its type. It has a higher viscosity than the Ν-Types due to its higher molecular weight. This imparts desirable properties in certain applications.
EPOLENE C - 1 3 ,
These three types of EPOLENE waxes have higher molecular weights than do any of the other types. They are designed for applications where higher melt viscosities aredesirable.
C-14&C-17 EPOLENE C - 1 5
A nonemulsifiable product similar to EPOLENE C-10 but with a lower density, melting point and molecular weight. It has an intermediate viscosity but because of its low softening point has good potential in rubber compounds.
EPOLENE C - 1 6
This is chemically modified polyethylene. Your rubber recipe may demand a product which has greater polarity than your ordinary polyethylene.
Eastman offers 13 different polyethylene waxes of extremely high quality. Each has been formulated with a specific combination of properties and performance characteristics to improve the processing of rubber recipes from initial blending to final curing. To facilitate handling, each type is available in either pellet or powder form. For more information, write to: Eastman Chemical Products, Inc., Epolene Wax Division, Kingsport, Tenn. 37662.
