CRYSTAL GROWTH & DESIGN 2006 VOL. 6, NO. 1 1
Editorial Authors Lead Crystal Growth & Design to Monthly Issues and Higher Impact! I am very pleased to introduce Volume 6 of Crystal Growth & Design, which will feature 12 issues in 2006, each with a new cover! The decision to go monthly was an easy one. Crystal Growth & Design has experienced a 34% increase in the number of manuscripts submitted, a 78% increase in the number of manuscripts published, and an 84% increase in the number of published pages, while at the same time increasing the ISI Impact Factor to 2.856. The decision to provide new cover art with each issue is in direct response to author feedback, and we are pleased to offer this new service. Authors wishing to submit artwork for consideration in the selection of the monthly cover art should pay special attention to the Guidelines for Authors in this issue, which detail the submission process. I would encourage you to take advantage of this new feature of CGD. Our field is especially appropriate for bringing forth the beauty of science into the world of art. Outstanding illustrations were part of the winning formula for graduate student Lisa Ferretti of the University of MilanBicocca, whose poster “Cooperation of Multiple CH‚‚‚π and π‚‚‚π Interactions to Build New Supramolecular Architectures” won the CGD “Best Poster” prize for young scientists presenting at the European Science Foundation Research Conference on Supramolecular Chemistry in Obernai, France, last fall. I join our Topic Editors Wais Hosseini and Christer Aakero¨y who organized the event in congratulating Ms. Ferretti. We look forward to this and other quality work from our next generation of scientists being published in CGD. Our Topic Editors and Advisory Board work hard for CGD, and for the crystal growth and crystal engineering communities. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new Topic Editors for 2006: Jennifer Swift (Crystal Growth of Organic Substances, Polymorphism, and Biocrystallization) and Zhipeng Zheng (Crystal Engineering and Topochemical Transformation). Stephen Byrn and John Warner are retiring as Topic Editors this year, and we sincerely thank both of them for their service to the journal. In 2006, we will be working diligently to continue to improve CGD and look forward to working with our authors and the
