COMPLETELY SELF C O N T A I N E D A l t h o u g h this unit is extremely low in price it incorporates all of the major improvements, pioneered by Autoclave Engineers, I n c . and generally found only in their m u c h higher priced, custom built equipment. This one liter autoclave is self-contained and consists primarily of a one-liter stirred reactor designed for working pressures up to 5,000 p.s.i., working temperatures to 6 5 0 F with agitator speeds variable from 3 0 0 to 1000 R.P.M. Since this unit offers positive agitation at known rates of speed it enables the chemist to carry out reactions involving suspended catalyst in quantities as small as 1 5 0 cc. POSITIVE PATENTED SEAL T h e cover on this unit incorporates t h e improved, leak-proof, quick-seal feature developed by Autoclave Engineers, I n c . T h e agitator shaft is sealed and protected by a special packing assembly which allows operation w.th either light or heavy gases, at high pressures, and high temperatures without leaking and without galling the shaft—a feature of real importance t o the chemist whose range of working gases may vary from heavy ammonia t o light hydrogen. T h e autoclave stirring shaft is equipped with an internal water cooling system.
