NEW PRODUCTS ing coils are embedded in refractory plates that line the sides, top, and bottom of the chamber. Operation can be continuous as high as 1650° F. and intermittent to 1900° F. Body is of welded steel, enameled, and the control section is of heavy gage perforated steel. The door swings out and up, always keeping the hot side away from the operator. P-12

matic synchronization, and a wide range of sweeps, is offered by Allen B. DuMont Laboratories, Inc. Type 401-A oscilloscope features front panel controls for X- and Yamplifier, sweep calibration settings, or switching from automatic to driven sweeps. It has identical direct coupled high gain X- and Y-amplifiers with amplitude calibration on both chan nels. All calibration and readout are based upon sensitivity or writing rates per centimeter. It has an externally or internally triggered "electronic shutter" for beam

brightening during X- and Y- plotting procedures. Also, X- and Y- amplifier controls may be used continuously without disturbing the calibration. Either an electronic power supply or a voltage regulating power transformer is available. Operating from 50 to 400 cycles, the electronic power sup ply eliminates dependence upon supply line frequencies. P-13 Direct Reading Flame Photometer A direct reading flame photometer for determining sodium and potassium con centrations in blood samples and other biological fluids is announced by BairdAtomic, Inc. Sodium and potassium are read directly in meq. per liter from a meter on the instrument. Designed for microsampling techniques, the in strument is said to be especially useful when samples are taken from infants or children. As little as 0.05 cc. of serum diluted to 1:200 is needed to run de terminations and then rerun as a check, says the company.

Other features claimed for the instru ment are that it needs no galvanom eter, uses city or manufactured gas, is portable, has an internal standard, and is easily calibrated. The company adds that the instrument will reproduce readings accurately to within 0.05% over an extended period of time. P-14 Bench Top Chromatography Cabinet A bench top Chromatocab having the insulation and positive vapor seal of larger models combined with compact ness and portability of glass jar units is offered by Research Specialties Co. It has fiber glass insulation, double pane windows, and an inch of plywood in the lid. Vapor seal is maintained by a neoprene cover-lid gasket. Outside dimensions of the unit are
