Free 28-page catalog from Barnes Engineering is a guide to the use of Analytical Accessories This new Barnes catalog is not just a catalog. In a way, it's kind of a handbook on the use of accessories in infrared spectroscopy. It not only lists products, with prices, but includes a great deal of useful data. By all means, send for it, refer to it, and keep it in your permanent files. Here are some of the infrared analytical accessories you'll find described in the catalog:

MULL HOLDERS. Barnes supplies two types of mull holder: the "Presslok" demountable, illustrated, and an ultramicro series, not illustrated.

MODEL PY-1 "PYROLYZERÏ

A truly scientific way to volatilize a stubborn sample with high, flash heat and deposit a pyrolyzate on a crystal where it will yield its secrets to analysis. Particularly useful for analyzing materials which are difficult to dissolve for transmission spectroscopy, such as carbon-filled rubber. # ATTENUATED TOTAL REFLECTANCE UNITS.

Through the magic of prisms — and an application of Snell's law — ATR makes it possible to produce fast, reliable, distortion-free spectra of almost any solid, opaque or insoluble material excepting carbon-filled rubber; pyrolyze first). Two models. Model ATR-3 shown, provides 5 reflections for most laboratory needs; Model ATR-4, not shown, provides 20 to 40 reflections for highly specialized work.

GAS CELLS. Barnes gas cells are of two types: the micro series, one of which is illustrated, and an ultra-micro series, the latter with holders. Barnes also makes available a Gas Chromatograph fraction collector U which simplifies transferring a fraction to an infrared micro-cell. For details, refer to the Barnes Catalog.

CRYSTALS. Do you need crystals? Barnes infrared transmission windows are available from stock in a galaxy of " „ shapes, sizes, and crystal materials. They " are designed to fit all standard cells whether manufactured by Barnes or others. Check the catalog.

φ

Φ VARIABLE TEMPERATURE CHAMBER.

Makes convenient and practical the spectroscopic analysis of samples at any temperature from - 2 5 ° C to +125°C. Useful for studies of melting or freezing points, phase transition, polymerization rates and other phenomena requiring the creation of specific sample temperatures. Chamber supplied with power supply. Power supply not shown.

CELLS. Barnes makes available the whole gamut of cells; liquid, standard amalgam series, as illustrated, with holder; liquid, ultra-micro series; liquid, micro-cavity series; liquid, precision path series, all with holders; liquid, long-wave polyethyl ene series; liquid, long path series; liquid, variable path series, with holder; liquid, demountable series.

What else do you need in infrared analytical acces sories? A crystal-polishing kit? A film holder? A vari able beam attenuator? Chart paper for Perkin-Elmer Model 137? Pen holders for Beckman spectrophotom eters? Barnes has them all for you. Barnes also has quite a storehouse of knowledge on infrared spectro scopy. Got a toughy that defies analysis? Write to Barnes. And think of Barnes when you want the very finest in infrared analytical accessories—-at prices which are competitive with anything else you can find. Send for Barnes Infrared Accessories Catalog BA-5. We think you'll find it a most interesting reference to have handy on your shelf.
